Volunteering with Wealdlink

Join Our Team of Volunteer Minibus Drivers!

Our incredible volunteers are at the heart of everything we do, helping ensure our services run smoothly. The more volunteers we have, the more we can grow and extend our reach to those in need.

Are you:

  • Someone who enjoys driving, meeting new people, and offering a helping hand?
  • Aged between 25 and 70?
  • Able to spare a few hours, either regularly or occasionally?

If so, we'd love for you to consider joining us as a volunteer driver!

What You’ll Do:

As a volunteer driver, you’ll support our daily shopper services and Wealdlink community trips, transporting passengers on a variety of routes. These trips range from short, local journeys to longer, more adventurous excursions. Whether you can commit to once a week or once a month, our volunteers will tell you that the work is both rewarding and fulfilling.

Training & Support:

  • All volunteer drivers will receive full MiDAS training (Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme) to ensure you're confident and ready.
  • We ask our drivers to engage with passengers in a friendly and respectful manner, especially as many of our passengers may be elderly, disabled, or have other mobility needs.

Wealdlink Non Driving Volunteers

To operate our services requires a whole range of jobs including:

Passenger Assistants

When available passenger assistants are an invaluable help to our drivers. Travelling with the bus they can help locate each address, help the passengers on and off, deal with fares etc. All of this reduces the time the driver would spend assisting and generally saves a great deal of time for both the outgoing and return journeys.
